In White Wolf, Inc.'s role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade (set in the old World of Darkness) a methuselah is an incredibly powerful and ancient vampire. Usually of the 4th or 5th generations, methuselah's are more often than not the childer of antediluvians. As such, they poses power (both physical and political), knowledge, and influence to an extent that is nearly incomprehensible to the newly embraced. As their sires are (with a few exceptions) in torpor, the methuselahs serve as the de facto heads of clans and movements, and as the generals in the eternal struggle that is the Jyhad.
