Games - Navy Field

----
Navy Field is a Korean naval combat MMOG set during World War II. The game has been operational in Asia for some time and has been open for Western players since its NA/EU commercial release in February 2006. When you start the game you will see 2 different servers. "Arizona" is the oldest server, comprised of the old "Bismarck" and "Prince of Wales" servers both put together. Because of this, the population of Arizona is made up of a diverse mix of player skill. "Missouri" (made up of the new "Iowa" and "Yamato" servers) is the next server in chronological order, and has a playerbase similar to Arizona now.

Gameplay takes place in certain zones and once enough players have gathered, two or more teams are formed and battle commences. You command a ship and progress through levels to access better vessels. Mainly there are two types of ships that a player will end up with in the highest level possible, which are either an Aircraft Carrier (CV) or a Battleship (BB). Battleships have the best guns possible with the best armor possible, aircraft carriers have the best range with lethal accuracy depending on the pilots. You can own up to 6 if you can afford them, mainly because the heavier ships range from 175 thousand to over 3 million credits.

Ship Classifications

The ships you can control include the following class types:

Frigates - FF

Destroyers - DD

Light Cruisers - CL

Heavy Cruisers (Armored Cruisers)- CA

Aircraft Carriers - CV

Escort Carriers - CVE (designated as CV in game)

Battle Cruisers - BC (designated as BB in game)

Battleships - BB

Nations

Once a new account is created, players receive fifty thousand credits and thirty two thousand points to spend purchasing a neutral ship and crew. On these ships players may sell, buy and add new naval guns and torpedo launchers. The more credits and points the better to gain better ships and sailors. The beginners are advised to battle in the Beginners' area to level up. Once they have reached level 12, they may assign their sailors to one of four nations:

RN - Royal Navy - UK

The RN is typically characterised as having the most effective armour and hard-hitting guns. Royal Navy guns lack range and reload (excpt RP12" guns) and their torpedoes are the worst (slow, no range but do pack a bit of power), but they gain access to Battleships and Heavy Cruisers before the other Navies.

USN - United States Navy - USA

The USN is generally said to be decent all-around, with good fighter aircraft, excellent anti-aircraft weaponry and powerful Light Cruisers Their late game BB's (i.e Iowa and South Dakaota) are arguably the best ingame.

KM - Kriegsmarine - Germany

KM guns have the greatest range of all the four navies, but some of their ships lack the space required to hold large amounts of armour. Whilst their guns have the greatest range, they generally do the least damage compared to other nations. They have excellent flak AA and powerful fighter aircraft.

IJN - Imperial Japanese Navy - Japan

The IJN has the most powerful torpedoes and some of the fastest ships in the game, and they also have a large assortment of CV's. The earlier IJN battleships are not on par with other nations counterparts, and hence the IJN is mostly a CV nation.

Armor and Defense

You can add armor onto your ships. The more armour you've got the more defense you have, but your ship will be slower due to the extra weight.

Deck Armor: This armour defends you from long range and high angle fire.

Belt Armor: Belt armor protects against direct shots from close range which hit the belt area of your ship. If you are a destroyer or lower class then Belt armor is arguably the best armor to stock up on.

Bulge Armor: This type of armour defends you from torpedoes. Bulge armor works by providing a buffer zone between the torpedo explosion and the hull.

Bulkhead Armor: Improves your overall ship's hull defense. Bulkhead armor also protects your crew members from explosive damage and increases it's structual strength. This means that it can take more damage before actually losing speed.

Payment

NavyField has now gone Retail, and players over level 30 must now pay a monthly subscription fee.

Currently two account types are available, Basic ($7.99) and Premium ($11.99). Premium account holders gain certain benefits such as increased experience and credit gain from battles. All players also have the right to purchase (with real currency and not in game credits) "Premium" ships; vessels that are able to compete with the warship class above them. For example, a Premium CL can mount guns normally used on a CA, while Premium CA's often carry battlecruiser guns. However, their slow speed allows for them to remain relatively balanced. Another new feature is the ability for players to buy (again with real currency and not in game credits) a limited number of "Veteran" sailors, which have a significant impact on the performance of the players ship.
