Netjak is a video game review website and community founded in 2002 by Shane "Search66" Johnson. Netjak.com actively reviews the latest games for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox consoles, as well as the Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation Portable handheld systems.

Netjak also boasts a fair number of vintage reviews by way of a feature they call "Throwback Tuesdays" with reviews dating as far back as early Commodore 64 titles. Editorial content is also provided on a weekly basis by Rick "32_Footsteps" Healey. In August, 2005 they posted their list of the best games of all time, as of 2005. The list can be found

Netjak is a completely independent and completely free website. There are no subscription fees for either the main review section or the Netjak.com forums.

The site is said to give some of the most critical reviews available, a practice in line with their motto of being, "For the Gamer, By the Gamer". No game has ever received a perfect 10.0 in the Overall category, but one game has received a score of 0.0 Overall, Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

Reviews

Each reviewer is free to review in their own style, but the game scores themselves are broken down into four categories: Gameplay, Graphics, Audio, and Replay. An Overall score is given so as to help the reader try and compare the title to others in its genre.

As the numerical system of quantifying a game's enjoyability is rather unwieldy, the Netjak staff usually try and compare the game to similar titles in the vein of the game so that fans or haters of games that are similar will better know what they are getting into before making a purchase.

Forums

Forums are split basically, into two main sections, one section for the general public to discuss video games, life in general, buying/selling/trading their game merchandise, and a second section for the Netjak.com clans. Currently, the largest of the Netjak.com clans is for the online strategy game Tactics Arena Online.

Interview with Jack Thompson

Senior writer Rick Healey recently obtained an interview with video game critic Jack Thompson. The interview was conducted in a far more civil tone than most of Thompson's interviews with the gaming press, and Thompson presented some fresh ideas and thoughts on his campaign against the gaming industry.
