| Nidoqueen (ニドクイン Nidokuin in japan, also called Nidoqueen in Germany and France) is listed as Pokémon #31 in the National Pokédex and #229 in the Hoenn Pokédex. The name, Nidoqueen, originates from the words Nidorina (from whom this Pokémon evolves) and queen. "Nido", in all cases, is likely derived from the Japanese word meaning 'two times' or 'two degrees', because of the differences in the genders of the species, it is also likely derived from the pronunciation of "needle", since the Pokémon are all covered in many needle-like barbs or spines. BiologyNidoqueen's super-hard, needle-like scales provide strong protection. It uses its hefty bulk to execute powerful moves. Tough scales cover the sturdy body of this Pokémon. It appears that the scales grow in cycles. It never shows signs of shrinking from any attack. Its scales stand up when excited. It is adept at sending foes flying with harsh tackles. Nidoqueen uses its scaly, rugged body to seal the entrance of its nest and protect its young from predators. This Pokémon is at its strongest when it is defending its young.Nidoqueen is evidently the feminine equivalent to Nidoking, as Illumise is to Volbeat, but differences in gender are great enough that the two Nidoran families are classified as different species. In the video gamesNidoqueen is available in every Pokémon game except Ruby and Sapphire, though you can trade it to those two games by using Fire Red and Leaf Green. In all of the video games, you have to use a Moon Stone on Nidorina to make it evolve. In battle, all of Nidoqueen's stats are good like Nidoking’s, and so is its movepool; It can many types of strong offensive attacks, including Earthquake for a STAB Ground attack, Sludge Bomb for a STAB Poison Attack, Surf for a water attack, Superpower for a Fighting attack (unlearned by Nidoking), Shadow Ball for a Ghost attack, and Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam for elemental attacks as well. Likewise, it can also learn Helping Hand (learned as Nidorina). Due to its Poison and Ground types, Nidoqueen is vulnerable to moves of the Psychic, Water, and Ice types. However, despite the claim of various Pokedex entries, Nidoqueen cannot breed, nor can Nidorina. You must use the female Nidoran to gain young Nidoran of that gender. In the animeNidoqueen appears in an episode while Ash is travelling the Orange Islands. One of the Gym Leaders has one, and it helps him to make a boat out of ice. It is also featured in Pokémon: The First Movie or Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back, where it is owned, ironically, by a Water Pokémon Trainer by the name of Fergus. Both Stage 2 Nidoran evolutions were featured in the 7th season episode "The Bicker, The Better!", owned by a trainer couple named Oscar and Andy, having a Nidoqueen and Nidoking respectivally. The couple likes to do Tag Battles, and Ash and May battled them in their first Tag Battle. In other mediaNidoqueen's showing in the card game seems strong enough, but it generally seems subservient to its male counterpart Nidoking. Its stage 2 appearances were in Jungle (grass type), Gym Challenge (grass type, as Giovanni's Nidoqueen), Skyridge (grass type) and EX Firered and Leafgreen (ground type).[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Nidoqueen ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
