| :This article is about the advertising character. For the minimal surfaces, see noid (mathematics). The Noid (voiced by Pons Maar), was a claymation character in Domino's Pizza advertising in the 1980s. He was a villainous red-suited character who attempted to ruin Domino's pizzas, but was constantly thwarted. The Noid was created by the Will Vinton Studios, the studio that created the California Raisins. In 1989, a man, Kenneth Lamar Noid, who thought the ads were a personal attack on him, held two employees of an Atlanta, Georgia Domino's restaurant hostage for over five hours. After forcing them to make him a pizza, and making demands for $100,000, getaway transportation, and a copy of The Widow's Son, Noid surrendered to police. Noid was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, extortion and possession of a firearm during a crime. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Contrary to popular belief, this incident did not cause Domino's to pull the "Noid" campaign off the air; rather, Will Vinton Studios asked for a larger amount of money for continued use of the Noid character, and Domino's chose not to renew their contract. The Noid has made a cameo appearance in several Simpsons episodes. A PC game was made as an advertisement for Domino's Pizza, called Avoid the Noid''. The object of the game is to deliver a pizza within a half-hour time limit, in an apartment building swarming with noids (some of which are armed with heat- or pizza-seeking missiles, or water balloons). The common version has CGA graphics, although an EGA version exists. The highlight of the game is a full-screen-sized Noid that sneers at you whenever you lose a life. In 1990 Capcom released the video game Yo! Noid for the NES. [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Noid ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
