| One Brain Cell wargame rules are a concept developed by Jim Wallman and others in the early 1980s.
It was a response to the prevalence of wargame rules that were long, unnecessarily complicated, legalistic and hard to use.
One brain cell game rules work on the basis of taking a 'top down' analytical approach to a battle or period - looking at the overall results of combat and battle and devising simple rules to reflect the main decisions taken and the general results - in contrast to more mainstream 'bottom up' game designs that start with the actions of individual units and their characteristics and obtain battle results as a long drawn out aggregation of these 'micro 'result calculation.
