Open Outcast: The Hidden Gate is the free sequel to the computer game Outcast.

General

Responsible for the founding of the project where mainly the bankrupt of Appeal and the persevering fan community, who have been awaiting the release of the official sequel for years.

The development advances fast since the switch to Crystal Space. The storyline is only finished approximately yet, and only partially published.

Open Outcast is Free Software, currently licensed under the GNU General Public Licence.

The creators

The developers call themself Eternal Outcasts and are international developers, mainly from Germany, who coordinate their work over the internet.

Technical data

Open Outcast is currently running on the platforms Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X and Windows. Other ports like a Linux based LiveCD for computers are intended.

The Engine is Crystal Space, who is extended by the Open Outcast programers.

Open Outcast is still in early alpha development, and only accessible by the developers. The sourcecode (without files necessary for playing) can be fetched and used by anyone via CVS from the repository listed below.
