Games - Openbase

OpenBase (TM) is a relational database, originally developed for the OpenStep
platform. OpenBase is available today for several platforms, although the bulk of its users are on Mac OS X
. The system supports and performs well with common access methods via JDBC and C. However, it is at its best when used in conjunction with a variety of Macintosh-based development tools like WebObjects
, RealBasic and Omnis Studio, and provides features for these environments that would be more effort to reproduce under competing and free database environmeents.

The software is developed by a small team of developers but they are a significant part of the Macintosh development community. They hold a four-day developer conference in an exotic location each year - 2004 was held in Maui and 2005 at the Mount Washington Hotel. These conferences attract developers from all corners of the world and tend to draw in former NeXT developers, largely due to the software's strong performance with Apple WebObjects
. Each day of the conference will have a series of lecture options, with each hosted by a speakers from OpenBase or the community.
