Games - Orgrimmar

Orgrimmar is a fictional city in the Warcraft Universe
and has appeared in the computer games Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and World of Warcraft.

Orgrimmar is the capital of the Orcish
kingdom of Durotar. The city was created in the period between the Battle of Mount Hyjal and the time that Maiev Shadowsong
starts her hunt for Illidan in Lordaeron
. The city is built east in the Barrens, in Durotar, north of Thunder Ridge. Thrall's
fortress and the Horde auction house is located there, as well as other important institutions and centers of orcish power. It is the capital city of the Horde. This city is also shared with Trolls, and the Troll Leader, Vol'jin
.

After aiding the Troll’s in their war with the Murlocs, Thrall promised the Troll leader Sen’jin a new home. When Sen’jin was lost in the final battle of the conflict, his advisor Vol'jin assumed the role. Since that time the Orcs and the Trolls have shared the city.

The city was named after the late Orgrim Doomhammer
, warchief of the Horde
during the Second War and Thrall's mentor.

It has been nicknamed Lagrimmar by World of Warcraft players because there is often lag there due to large numbers of players congregating in the city, seeing as it was the site of the only Horde auction house before patch 1.9. It was believed that the availability of auction houses in the Undercity and Thunder Bluff would decrease the lag in Orgrimmar, but this is not the case. Some players believed that the end result of the patch would be that instead of merely one laggy capital per faction - Orgrimmar for the Horde and Ironforge for the Alliance - there would be three.

List of districts

  • Valley of Strength is next to the main entrance to Orgrimmar. The guild master, inn, bank and auction house are located here, as well as the city's wyvern master. The Valley of Strength is the main area devoted to trade between players and regular vendor interactions, being the site of the Horde's main Auction house, the Bank, Flight Master, and regeant, trade, and general goods vendors. The Valley of Strength's lag is astronomical, and its latency can usually be used to measure the Horde population of a given server.
  • The Drag is a cave-like area with adjacent to three other areas in Orgrimmar, two being valleys and one being the mysterious Cleft of Shadow. It has several wandering vendors, and an assortment of profession trainers and stores inside its walls. The upper levels of the Drag are relatively unused. Because of its relatively low lag compared to the Valley of Strength area, the Drag is usually a better (or at least easier) meeting point for trade.
  • Cleft of Shadow is devoted to warlocks and rogues with several related profession and class trainers being located there. Aside from the point, it is part of a quest arc started by Thrall that will have you taking orders from Shadow Council member Neeru Fireblade, as well as the entrance to an instance dungeon named Ragefire Chasm.
  • Valley of Spirits possesses many pet vendors and first aid profession trainers as well as priest and mage trainers. A secondary entrance from the Barrens is also located here.
  • Valley of Honor also has many vendors and is home to the Horde-side guild half of The Thorium Brotherhood. Here, one may be trained in mining and engineering as well as buy weapons. Players may develop their hunters here.
  • Valley of Wisdom is where Thrall himself resides within Grommash Hold along with his advisors, effictively starting Orgrimmar's own quest arc of venturing into Ragefire Chasm. Shamans may also purchase skills from the trainers here.
