Also known as OZ DM to its fans, Oz Deathmatch is an early and popular fan-made, server-side modification (Mod) for Half-Life.

The major feature which differentiates OZ DM from regular Half-Life is, in addition to weapons, players may pick up a wide variety of power ups or Runes. These grant enhancements such as quad damage (increasing the damage of a selected weapon four times), invisability, speed and regenerating health or armor. There is also a Vampire Rune, which drains enemy health while increasing its possessor's. If a player is killed (fragged) they drop whatever rune they are holding. Players may also chose to drop their current rune in order to pick up a different one if they prefer. OZ Deathmatch also gives server administrators (admins) a lot more options in configuring the game. They may, for instance, allow players to have Grappling hooks, change the maximum amounts of health and armor players may have, the clip sizes for ammo and the damage amounts for weapons. The possibilities are vast.

While never achieving the popularity of such other mods as TFC, Counterstrike, or Day of Defeat, OZ DM has an enduring appeal and a loyal fan base, especially among Half-Life veterans.
