The PAL region is a videogame publication territory which covers Europe and Australasia. Games designated as part of the region will not play on NTSC-US or NTSC-J region consoles. Games created for this region are noted for being inferior to the original due to the 17.5% difference in speed between PAL and NTSC.
During the sixth generation of consoles developers have begun offering NTSC or PAL60 options in a lot of games, or atleast correctly converting the game to run fullspeed with no borders.
