Paul B. Thompson is a writer, who mainly writes fiction. He believes that fiction is a progressive craft, so he tries to improve his technique with each new work.

His early ambition was to write historical novels, but finding no market for them, he decided to write fantasy and science fiction. His favorite writers in these genre include Alfred Bester, Cordwainer Smith, and L. Sprague de Camp.

Paul lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with his wife Elizabeth.

Paul is the author of eleven books, among which many are Dragonlance novels. Some of these novels were co-written with Tonya C. Cook. One of their trilogiess is the Barbarians. It includes Children of the Plains, Brother of the Dragon, and Sister of the Sword.
