Peter C. Fishburn (1936-) is known as a pioneer in the field of decision making processes.

He received his B.S. in Industrial engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1958, his M.S. in Operations Research in 1961, and a Ph.D in Operations Research in 1962, the latter two from the Case Institute of Technology.

In collaboration with Steven Brams
, he devised Approval voting
in 1977. In 1996, he won the John von Neumann Prize.

He is currently employed with AT&T Laboratories in the state of New Jersey, USA. He is married to the theologian, Janet Forsythe Fishburn.
