Rena is the twin sister of Shugo. Her real name is Rena Kunisaki and is a 14 year old girl as of .hack//Legend of the Twilight. Rena is the one who introduces her brother Shugo to The World.

Rena is also a name, the orgin of which being Hebrew or Greek. In hebrew it means happiness, joy, or song.

.hack//Rumor

As shown in the novel chapter ".hack//Rumor" in the novel .hack//AI Buster 2, Rena had another character before the one in Legend of the Twilight. This character was a female BladeMaster named Brigit. In ".hack//Rumor", Brigit learns of legendary .hackers that completed the Twilight Event from a male WaveMaster named Rumor, who speaks in 3rd person.

.hack//Legend of the Twilight

In .hack//Legend of the Twilight, Rena wins chibi avatars of the legendary Kite and BlackRose in a character contest set up by Aura. She proceeds to keep the chibi BlackRose avatar and give the chibi Kite avatar to her brother.

Anime

In the anime, Rena falls into a coma in episode 4 because of a data bug. From there on, Shugo tries his best to revive her. By the end of the series, Rena is finally located by Shugo and co. and is finally revived from her coma.

Manga

In the manga, Rena does not fall into a coma but instead helps Shugo return Zefie to Aura.
