| Roselia is a is one of the 395 fictional species of Pokémon from the Pokémon franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. It is one of the few Pokémon whose names is the same in all languages, save for the Japanese name (ロゼリア Rozeria), mostly likely where the European name came from, only change to acclimatize for European speech, since Rozeria is somewhat difficult to say by Europeans. Roselia's name is a portmanteau of rose and , a type of melody. The species of flower, Azalea may be another influence of it's name. CharacteristicsRoselia appears to be a living plant. Its main body is green, and it has three spikey growths on its head. It carries two roses like giant pompoms: one blue and one red. Physically, Roselia is a very small plant Pokémon with tiny, featureless legs covered by a single-leaf “skirt”. (Compare with Gardevoir's body.)Roselia is defined mostly by its flowers in many cases. The flowers give off a relaxing fragrance that brings serenity to living things. The stronger its aroma, the healthier the Roselia is, and a Roselia that drinks nutritionally rich springwater blooms with particularly lovely flowers. It is therefore found in wild areas untouched by human presence. The flowers, as well as the rest of Roselia’s body, are also it's weapons for battling. First of all, Roselia’s trademark flower aromas has the effect of making its foes careless when battling. (Compare with Chimecho's Heal Bell). Pokémon in the wild sometimes find it valuable to try and steal the flowers on Roselia’s arms, so Roselia shoots out sharp thorns hidden within its flowers as projectiles at any opponent. These thorns are also used in Pokémon trainer battles. Also, the thorny growths on this Pokémon's head contain a potent poison that wounds any opponent, gradually weakening them. In the video gamesRoselia is a relatively common Pokémon in the Ruby and Sapphire versions, but not in Emerald, Firered, and Leafgreen.Generally, Roselia is an underused Pokémon. It has very good SP. ATTACK and SP. DEFENSE, but it has abysmally low HP and DEFENSE, making it an awful Grass-type, since they are well known for their vast amounts HP and their powerful attacks, which often involve several turns to take effect. Examples of this are - Solarbeam & Razor Wind. It's dual-type Poison-traits are what bring Roselia into it's own, as it learns several which attacks which make it a good Annoyer type. It learns attacks such as Stun Spore, Grasswhistle, Toxic and Leech Seed. It also has a high chance of having the ability Poison Point, which may poison the foe when Roselia is attacked. One notable trainer who uses a Roselia is Wally, a character in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, who you battle before you reach Ever Grande City. It is male and at level 44 on the first encounter. After you beat the Elite Four, its level increases to level 47 the first time, 50 the second, 53 the third, and 56 on the fourth and thereafter. Roselia is better known as a Pokémon used in Pokémon contests. ==Animé Appearances== Notable EpisodesEpisode No. - Pros and Con ArtistsEpisode No. - Win, Lose or Drew In these episodes one of May's opponent, Drew, has a Roselia.
