In RuneScape, armour is the counterpart to any weapon.Melee-related armourThere are several types of armour available to the melee fighter type:
Body armoursThere are 12 main types of melee body armour, these are Leather, Bronze, Iron, Steel, White (members only), Black, Mithril, Adamant, Rune, Dragon (members only), and Barrows (members only). In addition, there are several other armour sets, such as the Rock Shell armour set (which is identical to Rune in stats, but not in appearance) Leather is the weakest kind of armour, and Barrows is the strongest. Against Archers however, Granite has a higher Ranged Defence while having a lower Melee Defence than Dragon, although the reduction is only around 10-15 points per stat.Body armour generally reduces your Defence against magical attacks, while improving it moderately against melee attacks and improving it considerably against ranged attacks. Many players use Black Dragonhide Armour in Melee combat because it has the highest Melee Defence and, because it was designed for Archers, also has good Magic Defence. Torag's platebody, although it gives the best bonus on the game, has dropped from 2 million gold pieces to 975 thousand. This extreme price drop took place because of a technical glitch. HelmetsHelmets in RuneScape come in two varieties: Medium and Full. They are available in 8 metals: Bronze, Iron, Steel, Black, Mithril, Adamant, Rune, and Dragon (Medium only). Full Helmets are stronger than Medium helmets. There are also Fremennik Helmets, which do not necessarily fall into the category of Medium or Full, but do seem to look more like a Medium helmet than anything. These helmets resemble a Viking Helmet (as the Fremenniks are somewhat Viking) and provide slightly better Defence than Rune Full Helmets. There are 4 helmets of this style, each benefiting a different class of combat.ShieldsLike helmets, there are two main types of shields in RuneScape: the Square Shield, which is rectangular, and a Kiteshield, which is shaped like a kite. The Kiteshield is stronger than the square shield and requires the same Defence skill level to wield. An important but often-overlooked distinction is that the Kite Shield is better at protection from crushing/slashing attacks, while the Square Shield is better for slashing/stabbing protection. Shields come in the basic 8 types (i.e. Bronze to Dragon Square; no Dragon Kite exists as of yet). There are also some special shields in RuneScape:Crystal shieldThe Crystal Shield is one of two items the player can ask for when he or she completes the Roving Elves quest. It is currently the best shield for range defence bonus in the RuneScape. The Crystal Shield degrades (i.e. gets a "-1/10" applied to it) with every 250 times the player sustains damage. When the shield is reduced to 0/10, it "reverts" back to its seed form, where the player must bring it to the NPC elf Ilfeen to recharge it. Alternatively, the player can ask Islwyn to buy another completely new shield for the maximum prices if the shield or crystal seed is lost.Granite shieldThe Granite Shield is a shield dropped by a level 113 Troll General in the Troll Stronghold, or from the other various high leveled Trolls found on Death Plateau (Rock, Stick, Pee Hat, and Kraka). These shields are fairly uncommon and very heavy; All of their offensive and defensive values are the exact same as the Obsidian Shield, with the exception of the +5 strength bonus that the Obsidian shield gives.Anti-dragonfire shieldBy embarking on the freeplay Dragon Slayer quest, players can obtain the Anti Dragon Breath Shield from the Duke of Lumbridge free of charge. This shield protects players from the rather nasty effects of a Dragon's firebreath attack. However, the shield does not render a player completely impervious to the attack, the damage is only significantly reduced (in the case of the King Black Dragon, his freeze/shock/poison attacks are somewhat mitigated by this shield as well). Combined with an Anti-dragon Potion, this shield renders all fire-breathing attacks to be completely harmless against the wearer. The shield does not detract from the player's Magic Attack or Ranging rating, so it is favoured by Mages who like to go into the Wilderness. Should the Anti-dragon Shield be lost, the player can simply return to Duke Horacio in Lumbridge and he will replace it for free, or one can buy a replacement from other players if they are willing to sell. If the shield is not equipped while a dragon uses its breath attack against a player, the damage dealt can be quite high. The downside of this shield is that it is about as effective against a non-dragon opponent as an iron square shield. General stores are known to sell it for 10gp when there are 2 in stock. This means that the shield is worth about 4gp, although new players will buy it for more simply because it looks cool and they are intimidated by it. It is possible to obtain more than one from the Duke, by dropping the one you are given and then asking again, collecting them before they disappear.[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for RuneScape armour ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
