| Semyon Abramovich Furman (December 1, 1920 - March 16, 1978) was a Soviet chess grandmaster. Furman was known for his insistence on using the white pieces, earning him the nickname "World Champion playing white". Notwithstanding this, Furman once found himself in a title match, in which he had to play as black against Grandmaster Isaak Boleslavsky. Furman won the match, but suffered from a nosebleed immediately afterwards, due to the tension. [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Semyon Abramovich Furman ] | Searches on eBay |
