Sidehopper is an enemy from the Metroid series appearing in each game that took place on Zebes and Metroid Fusion. They had two long legs and a large head and naturally come in yellow and red varieties. In fusion they were in a blue variety and only damageable by missiles or charged shots. In the other games they were very strong and highly damaging enemies but could still be harmed by the normal power beam.

In every game they moved in a jumping pattern towards Samus Aran on either the ground or the ceiling. In Metroid they were said to be the most powerful enemy in the game besides the bosses, sharing that title with the Dessgeega. In all the Zebes based games they were only found in the Brinstar area, and only Super Metroid had them outside of Kraid's hideout. In Super Metroid they came in size rather than color variations, large and small, keeping the yellow coloring consistent. Zero Mission only had the large, yellow variety.

They can also be found in Metroid Prime as a teaser, brought by the space pirates to Tallon IV aboard the space firgate. They are in a cage-like containment unit and can be scanned with Samus's visor.
