Smith is the often sardonic and occasionally witty talking horse, most often seen dwelling in Iolo's hut, in the popular computer role-playing game series, Ultima. Smith the talking horse was famous for providing so-called clues for the protagonist, which were always delivered one game in the series too late. This inside joke started in Ultima V, since the horse was supposed to leave a vital clue in Ultima IV but this was inadvertently left out of the game.Smith's Clues
- Ultima V: After struggling to remember, Smith tells you that "the answer, it was... INFINITY" (in runic).
- Ultima VI: Smith tells you that when you find Lord British in the Underworld, make sure you have his sandalwood box.
- Ultima VII: Smith tells you that "the gargoyles are not evil". and "Rasputin is a mean Martian"
- Ultima VII part 2: Smith tells you that the Fellowship are building a Black Gate on the Isle of the Avatar
