| The Watchman (also Sony Watchman) is the brand name (and trademark) given by Sony to its portable pocket television devices. The Watchman device was named similarly to the popular personal stereo devices created by the company. The first model was introduced in 1982 as the FD-210, and was the first mass produced pocket television. This model displayed a black and white picture, with a visible picture size diagonal of 2 inches (roughly 5 centimetres), weighing around 650 grams, and measuring 87 x 198 x 33 millimetres. The original Watchman was offered for sale in Japan at a price of 54,800 Yen. The device was introduced to Europe and North America soon afterwards. Further models soon appeared with increasing picture sizes. After the introduction in 1986 of the sport Walkman, a water-resistant cartridge based personal stereo, Sony also decided to offer the sport Watchman FD-45, a similar water-resistant version of the Watchman. In 1990 Sony introduced the first color Watchman, the FDL-310, with active matrix LCD technology. [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Sony Watchman ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
