Spyro is the draconic hero of the series of games released on the fifth, sixth, and seventh generations of video game consoles. The first three games of the series were created by Insomniac Games and published by Universal Interactive, for the PlayStation.

Young Life

Not much of his life is known before his first outing on a console, but most would assume that he was hatched from a dragon egg some multiple of twelve years before the events of Spyro: Year of the Dragon, since the game's ceremonies happen every twelve years.

However, some suspect that since the plotline of the original game involved Spyro playing hooky, avoiding Gnasty Gnorc's spell in the process, that he was hatched exactly twelve years prior.

A Hero Rises

In his first adventure across the Dragon Realms, Spyro quickly was considered a hero by the Dragon Elders he saved from Gnasty's spell. Though his spunky attitude was focused more on getting to Gnasty Gnorc's world for revenge, he did all he could to save the Elders beforehand.

The Riptoc Rival

With Spyro's arrival in Avalar, he found a rivalry in Ripto, a riptoc who despises dragons.

Current status

Spyro has become much more arrogant over the years, and in more recent outings, has actually denied help to those who did not expressly indicate that they would award him. Also, any friendship he had with Elora has seemingly been severed, instead having Ember in her place. Most will argue, however, that Elora and Ember are not to be considered as replacements for each other. Some times fan made Spyro fall in love with either Croc or Crash Bandicoot, sometimes either transforming him into a female or by turning him into a homosexual.

Trivia

Spyro, like many of the other characters in Ripto's Rage, Year of the Dragon, and Enter the Dragonfly, was voiced by Tom Kenny.
