Games - Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations

Fleet Operations is a popular modification for Activision's Star Trek: Armada II adding advanced graphics, a new user interface, completely replaced ship models with new improved ones, new gameplay for every race and easy to use utilities for advanced options.

General

As Armada II is much different from what everybody thought the successor of Armada I should be, Fleet Ops was started some years ago to change the philosophy of the game. The objective of the mod is to bring the game back to the Star Trek root. Fleet Ops attempts to change the philosophy of creating big fleets within seconds and battles based on the pure number of materials, as such the warp system was removed and map depth was reduced to the point where it became practically non existent. There were no merits seen by the team in having unbalanced races, so Fleet Ops was created on the conviction that each ship should have its defined task and does not loose its importance during the game. Each ship was redesigned with new textures, and each race with a new tech tree. A credit system was introduced that gives you the possibility to create a certain number of race specific special ships. New map surroundings where created including new asteroid fields, stars and star maps.

Races

Fleet Operations v3.0 Contains 5 different playable races; which are Federation, Klingon, Borg, Romulan, Dominion. (Noxter will be removed after Beta 2)

  • The Federation
  • The Klingons
  • The Borg
  • The Romulans (Playable since Beta 2)
  • The Dominion (Playable in V3.0)
  • The Noxter (Playable Only in Beta 2)

Resources

Fleet Operations 3.0 has 5 different resources; which are Dilithium, Tritanium, Crew, Supply and Credits.

  • Dilithium is used for the construction of vessels and stations. It can be obtained from Dilithium Moons or similar sources.
  • Tritanium is used in the construction of vessels and stations. It can be obtained from Tritanium Moons or similar sources. The mining rate in Tritanium Moons is slower then on Dilithium Moons but you often need not as much as Dilithium for construction.
  • Crew is automatically acquired by starbases or other stations where you can see "acquires crew" in its label. Crew is used to run all your vessels and stations or to board enemy units. The growth rate of crew and the amount of crew you have to spend for vessels and stations depends on the race you play.
  • The Supply resource symbolizes all kinds of materials and spare parts a starship needs during its journey through the galaxy. Supplies are loaded on a ship as soon as it lefts the yards. The Player has to pay the supply costs along with the Dilithium, Tritanium and Crew costs. You can get additional supplies at your starbases by extending your supply routes. (Supply are V3.0 Only)
  • Credits is a special resource type in Fleet Operations. You start with a predefined limit of Credits to spend (you can choose between 10 - 30 Credits, 20 is default). Credits are used to construct special vessels, stations or for research on special technologies. Therefore you have only a limited number of Credits during a game you maybe cannot use not all special technology a race have so you have to decide what of these technologies fits most for your strategy.

Changelog
