Games - Strip chess

Strip chess is a variant of chess in which an article of clothing is removed for each piece taken. It is similar in purpose to strip poker.

More than is the case with poker, strip chess introduces a secondary goal which can diverge from the game's normal goal and substantially alter the way the game is pursued.

In most variants of strip poker, one forces one's opponents to strip simply by playing poker well--viz., by winning hands. In regular chess the goal is to checkmate the opponent. Capturing pieces is often useful, but if at a given time a player can choose between checkmating his opponent and capturing a piece, he normally ought to checkmate. There is no effective way to map success in chess onto losing individual garments, because there is no simple way to measure which person is winning a single game; and a game of chess typically takes too long to have the loser of each game remove a single garment--arousal may not be adequately sustained, and there may not be enough time for anyone to undress significantly. On the other hand, if piece captures--an approximate measure of success--determine clothing-loss, then players may be tempted to pass up a checkmate in order to capture more pieces in order to see more of their opponent, thus changing the normal mode of play.
