Susumu Hori (Hori Susumu) is the main character in Namco's Mr. Driller series. He has always been voiced by veteran seiyuu Mitsuko Horie.

According to his official biography, Susumu was born in Japan on March 3, 1986. His blood type is O. He is the son of Taizo Hori.

History

In the first Mr. Driller, Susumu first rose to fame after successfully controlling the epidemic of blocks that came from under the ground in Tokyo. He became a worldwide hero, and he also became the highest-ranked Driller in the world.

In Mr. Driller 2, Susumu took on a mission even bigger tha his last one: he had to control the block epidemic, except that they were popping up all over the world!! He took to the mission, but he also gained a rival, female German Driller, Anna Hottenmeyer.

In Mr. Driller Ace, Dr. Z caled him to solve the enigma of the myterious block-eating creature, Pacteria. He was sent to various ancient ruins (all named after characters from Namco games The Tower of Druaga and The Legend of Valkyrie), with a special suit of armor and a special sword. Through all his drilling, Susumu got to learn a lot about Pacteria. As soon as he finished the last ruin, he found out that Tokyo was in danger from a huge monster!!! He gave Pacteria a Myu Stone, which changed him to a human-like version of Pacteria. Pacteria then destroyed the monster, in exchange for his own life. Susumu was very saddened, but he got a new Pacteria egg, and vowed to raise it more.

Appearance and Personality

Susumu is a young boy wearing a pink and light-blue jumpsuit, and a pink helmet. He has brown hair and eyes. In most of his appearances, his hair is usually seen as a forelock of hair in front of his face due to the helmet, but when his helmet is off, he has quite a hairstyle that looks similar to Goku's from Dragon Ball. He is good-natured, though being a bit crazy, and also possesses a stong sense of justice.
