Games - Syovar the Strong

Syovar the Strong is a fictional character from the Zork universe.

Syovar started out as a court advisor to Wurb Flathead
. When Wurb fled Flatheadia in advance of Curse Day, Syovar took over and ruled in Wurb's name having been the real force behind the kingdom for the two years of Wurb's rule. Syovar himslef fled on 15 Mumberbur
(Curse Day) and declared himself "King of Zork" based on a dubious copy of Wurb's last will and testament.

Lord Syovar was often callled General Syovar because of his iron-fist style, necessitated by the constant riots, uprisings, and unrest. In 884, Syovar took control of the Inquisition, a pseudo-religion that had contended that the only way to stop the curse was to kill everyone in the empire, to further cement his power. Syovar spread the Inquisition to the Eastlands by 933 GUE, although it retained little resemblance to its original creed, the curse having been resolved. Syovar's deputy General Thaddeus Kaine proceeded to defeat Ellron, a rebellious Enchanter with the help of the a pilgrim who infiltrated Irondune's chain of command.

This was a major setback for the Enchanter's Guild, culminating in the destruction of magic in 966 GUE.
