Tarot Auction

A card game for 4 players designed by J.C.Tsistinas

OBJECT: To be the first player to score 200 points.

EQUIPMENT: One deck of standard Tarot Cards. (22 Major Arcana 56 Minor Arcana)

SETUP: Separate the Major Arcana cards and Minor Arcana cards. Shuffle each deck. Place the major arcana deck face-up in the middle of the table. The players are each dealt 14 cards from the minor arcana deck. The minor arcana cards should be kept secret from other players.

GAMEPLAY: Players will take turns placing one bid for the face-up major arcana card. The player who opens the bidding can play any card.. but the three other players must follow suit.. unless they have no cards of the lead suit. In this case the player can play any card.. but it cannot win the bid. The player with the highest bid wins the face-up major arcana card. The cards used in the bid are collected and removed from the game. The player who made the lowest bid opens the bidding for the next face-up major arcana card. (Note: The lowest bid MUST be of the lead suit.) When a player has won 3 major arcana cards.. that player can no longer bid in the round. When all of the players have won 3 major arcana cards the round ends. At the end of the round all of the cards are reshuffled into the respective decks and each player is dealt 14 minor arcana cards. The player with the lowest overall score opens the bidding for the first face-up major arcana card.

SCORING: The major arcana cards are worth the value printed on the card. Players add the values of all the major arcana cards they have won in the game.

END OF GAME: The first player to score 200 points wins the game. (Note: If a player scores 200+ points in the middle of a round.. the game ends.)
