Games - Terry Bogard

Terry Bogard (テリー・ボガード) is a video game character created by SNK, and is the main character of the Fatal Fury series. He is one of the main mascots of SNK. He is often pictured either in his traditional outfit, or his Garou outfit, the former consisting of a red and white ball-cap, a red sleeveless jacket with a white star on the back, white shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of what appear to be Chuck Taylor All-Stars. The latter consists of a brown jacket with a white star on the back, as well as a white shirt and blue jeans. The front of his cap displays either the Fatal Fury logo (in the King of Fighters series) or the King of Fighters logo (in the Fatal Fury series). In the animated films, his cap has no logo, but is instead replaced by a large metal plate.

Terry Bogard is the brother of Andy Bogard
. Both of them were orphans adopted by Jeff Bogard, however, it is unknown if the two are actually brothers by blood. He is often referred to as the Legendary Hungry Wolf (from Garou Densetsu, meaning Legend of the Hungry Wolf). He has a pet monkey named Ukee (who was the previous mascot of SNK before Terry). His voice is provided by Satoshi Hashimoto in every game he has appeared in.

History

Terry's life evolves around two fighters in the Fatal Fury universe: Geese Howard
and Rock Howard
.

The Geese Howard Era

Terry hails from the fictitious town of South Town, U.S.A. (a setting for many SNK games), and is the adoptive son of Jeff Bogard. During childhood, he saw his father killed at the hands of Geese Howard. On the advice of mentor Tung Fu Rue, he chose to pursue his revenge at a later time. Unlike his brother, he chose to stay in South Town, learning the unique South Town style of street fighting, as well as the Hakkyokusaiken style taught to him from time to time.

Many years later, the crime lord Geese Howard organized a tournament, The King of Fighters, and the battle that followed would eventually see Geese defeated and thrown off the top of Geese Tower, a tall tower in Southtown. For a while, it was thought that Geese was killed. The next year, saw Geese's half-brother, Wolfgang Krauser
, take control of The King of Fighters, which ended up with Terry being ultimately defeated by Krauser, only to win in a rematch.

When it was found out that Geese had survived the fall, Terry learned of Geese's intentions to retrieve the legendary Jin scrolls, Terry had to go and defeat him once again. In a rematch of what had happened the previous time Terry and Geese had battled, Terry knocked Geese off the edge of Geese Tower, but Terry held his hand and tried to keep Geese from falling. That was not to be as Geese let go of Terry, plummetting to his permanent death. Immediately after Geese took his own life away, Terry found a young boy named Rock Howard. To avoid history repeating itself, Terry took Rock and raised the child as his own, thus allowing himself to make amends for the next ten years.

The Rock Howard Era

Since then, several catalystic events happened. Southtown was destroyed in the year 2000 (during the King of Fighters 2000 Tournament) by NESTS Syndicate Agent Zero (The Clone Zero) via a satellite weapon called "Zero Cannon." Second Southtown rose from the ashes from the original Southtown, but even though Second South enjoyed a comeback, the tranquility of Second Southtown has been eclipsed by the next-generation crimelord, Kain R. Heinlein
.

About 7-8 years after the tragic events in King of Fighters 2000, Maximum Mayhem (hosted and sponsored by Kain R. Heinlein) would go underway, and Terry and Rock were invited to take part of the tournament. Both Terry and Rock entered the tournament to settle their pasts once and for all.

Although Terry and Rock were to face off against each other in the finals, Grant (a.k.a. The Martyr of Might) approached the two by surprise. Terry told Rock that now would not be a good time to square off against each other since he had to fight Grant. Although Terry was victorious against Grant, he was too exhausted to proceed, forcing Rock to succeed Terry's place in the final minutes of Maximum Mayhem. As Grant started to pass away due to excessive might, Grant ordered Rock to go to Kain's mansion to learn more about his past. Terry became nothing but a spectator as Rock eventually defeated Kain with a version of Geese's Deadly Rave.
