Games - The Forsaken

The Forsaken are a faction of the Undead
in the fantasy Warcraft Universe
.

Body

The Forsaken are essentially humans
or High Elves that have stopped living in the common sense of the word. They share the same characteristics, except for the occasional dislocated (or missing) jaw, glowing eyes (or none visible), and unsightly bones protruding through their flesh. Most Forsaken have missing patches of hair, resulting in manic styles such as the mohawk. Little to no flesh surrounds their elbow joints and knees, and they bear very long fingernails. Their eyes glow with a yellow glare, similar to the Night Elves, suggesting a soul burns freely within, as opposed to the blackened, dead eyes of the Scourge minions. Many undead High Elves, like Sylvanas Windrunner
, are also Forsaken. They are not dead, but rather mutated by a disease in a normal sense.

Not to be confused with the simple shambling zombies of the Scourge, the Forsaken are often swift and deadly in their movements as a Warrior
or Rogue
and show great spell-casting prowess should they choose to be a Mage
, Priest
or Warlock
. Retaining some of the characteristics of the Scourge, the Forsaken have an unbreakable will, rendering them immune to fear and other such mortal emotions in combat, as well as being naturally resistant to Shadow magics. They have also been known to consume the corpses of fallen humanoid foes to replenish their own vitality. The Forsaken have always slumped, perhaps it was because they were missing the muscles required to keep one standing up straight or had a problem with the spinal column.

It should be noted that the Forsaken appear to exhibit signs of life. A Forsaken needs to breathe, and will suffocate (or drown) without air. It also benefits from eating and drinking exactly as other living races do. This gives them a functioning metabolism. They are also no less vulnerable to poisons, diseases, etc. than their living counterparts.

The Forsaken have their own language, given to them by the Plague of Undeath. It is called Gutterspeak.

History

The Forsaken began when the Dark Lady, former High Elf Ranger General Sylvanas Windrunner
, broke free from the Lich King. The struggling High Elf, given back her corporeal form, began to amass an army pulled straight from The Scourge's
ranks using her possessive powers. She eventually enslaved the dreadlord Varimathras and took over a homeland from the residing Humans
and Scourge armies. A sub-faction of The Forsaken known as the Defilers have been introduced into the World of Warcraft as of patch, v1.7.

Forsaken lands

The Forsaken lands are not yet large, as the Forsaken are a relatively new race on Azeroth
. The Forsaken have complete control over the Tirisfal Glades and the former capital of Lordaeron
, which has been converted into the Forsaken capital, the Undercity
. They have begun to strike claims in the Hillsbrad Foothills, and almost have complete political control over the Silverpine Forest region, except for a few pockets of resistance from the Humans, specifically the Scarlet Crusade, who are trying to reclaim their land; and a small pocket of the Scourge. In the Arathi Highlands, the Forsaken wage a war with the humans of the League of Arathor over control of a particularly resourceful basin, Arathi Basin
.
