Games - The Legend of Zelda Series Bosses

The Legend of Zelda Bosses are some of the largest creatures in Hyrule
. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, these enemies can range from the tiniest of Octorocks, to the largest of Dodongos. Many of the bosses of the series appear in more than one game. For example Aquamentus, this creature has appeared in The Legend of Zelda and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. It is easiest to remember the bosses if you think of there being three main groups of Bosses. Thoses groups are as follows:

  • Final Game Boss
  • Temple Boss
  • Mini/Sub Boss

Mini/Sub Bosses

These Creatures, although not the friendliest nor weakess Monsters in the series, they are easier to beat than the Temple boss. These are the easiest of the bosses.

The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening

Rolling Bones; This frog-like enemy pushes a spiked log back and forth across the room. It could be found in Tail Cave and Turtle Rock. This simple mini-boss was defeated by jumping over the log with the Roc's Feather, then hitting it with the sword as it jumps to the other side.

Moblin King; Moblin King was another mini-boss early on in the game. It only shot arrows at you, then charged at you. If you dodge it when it charges at you, then it'll smack on the wall, stunning itself. Then, just attack it with your sword.

Hinox; is a sub-boss found in Bottle Grotto, Eagle's Tower, and Turtle Rock. It throws bombs at you, but if it isn't hit for a while, then it will charge at you, pick you up, and throw you. All you have to do to defeat it, is to attack it with your sword. Just be careful of pits or cracks in the floor!

Mad Bomber; is a sub-boss found outside of Kanalet Castle. It pops out of holes and throws bombs at you. To defeat it, hit it with your sword when it pops out of a hole. You should preferably stay towards the bottom two holes while waiting for it. Then slash it when it comes out.

Ball and Chain Trooper; is a sub-boss found inside Kanalet Castle. It attacks you with a mace, but be careful, that mace can stretch out at you! All that must be done, is to slash at it with your sword until it dies.

Dodongo Snakes; are sub-bosses found in Key Cavern, Face Shrine, and Turtle Rock. Other fans might recognize the name "dodongo", but the lizard-like creatures found in other games are a far cry from what these creatures are like. They look like black blobs with a mouth in the front. Place a bomb in front of them, and if they move forward onto it, they will eat it, and it will explode inside of it, hurting it. It ALWAYS has a partner.

Lanmola; is a sub-boss found in Yarna Desert. It is set in an area of shifting sand, and if you are pulled into the middle, you fall down and must start the battle all over again. It looks like a head with many segments behind it. All that must be done, is slash at the head with your sword; the bow also works. It is found in two other games.

Cue Ball; is a sub-boss found in Angler's Tunnel and Turtle Rock. It looks like a round object with a head in the front. It dashes around a pool of water, and to beat it, you must run or jump over it to its back, then slash at it. It then will spin around and come at you again, then you can run or jump over it again.

Gohmas; are sub-bosses found in Catfish's Maw. There are two of this sub-boss, and they walk sideways across the room. If you're near, they can lunge towards you, or it can open its eyes to shoot a fireball. When one stops, it will open its eye, so shoot an arrow or the hookshot into its eye. If you shoot the hookshot, hit it with your sword. It also appears in five other Zelda
games.

Armos Knight; is a sub-boss found in Face Shrine. It hops around then leaps in the air. It then crashes into the ground, and paralyzes anything on it. When it jumps, use the Roc's Feather to jump to avoid the impact it makes. You must attack it with the bow, or the whirling blade technique. It is also found in most other Zelda Games.

Smasher; is a sub-boss found in Face Shrine and Turtle Rock. It is a ball with a little bubble coming out of its head. It carries a large ball, and to beat it, equip the power bracelet and toss the ball back at Smasher when it tosses the ball at you.

Grim Creeper; is a sub-boss found in Eagle's Tower. It never attacks you, and you cannot attack it. To beat it, attack the six bats it sends at you. If you don't defeat them all, they come back again in a different formation. It comes back later on top of the level boss.

Turtle Rock; is a sub-boss found in the Tal Tal Mountain Range. It only sways its head and occasionally lunges forward. All that must be done is to slash it in the head.
