Plot

The Latonans possess a defensive weapon called "Sentinel" given to them by the Asgard. Years ago, a NID team attempted to learn its secrets, but, in their attempt, rendered it useless. That team was captured, imprisoned, and put on deathrow for stealing technology from Earth's allies. SG-1 enlists two of that convicted team for their next mission, Grieves, and Kershaw. SG-9 was attacked by the Goa'uld, indicating the weapon is inoperational.

SG-1 and the two convicts travel to the planet and find Grogan, the only remaining member of SG-9. Col. Jack O'Neill and Grogan attempt to persuade Marul, the leader of the Latonans, to save his people and evacuate the population through the Stargate. Jack is unable to convince him, and is ambushed by Jaffa.

Meanwhile, Daniel, Samantha Carter, Teal'c and the two convicts locate the Sentinel, and attempt to repair it, while under attack from the Jaffa.

The Jaffa bring Jack and Grogan to the Sentinel, and demand to lower its shield. Jack orders Carter to destroy the weapon, but she declines because she can tell Grieves knows how to fix it. Grieves realizes what they are doing incorrectly, and grabs hold of the Sentinel, making "Two as one", and the Jaffa disappear.
