The Stockades is a location set in Blizzard Entertainments video game and book series, Warcraft. In the MMORPG World of Warcraft it acts as an instance dungeon in the virtual world.BackgroundLocated centrally within the Canal District of the Human city of Stormwind, The Stockades is an underground penitentiary complex that serves as a medium-low level instance dungeon for the Alliance. Whatever its initial purpose or state, in its current form the Stormwind authorities in charge of the Stockades, namely Warden Thelwater, have lost control, and The Stockades is under a state of riot where prisoners roam freely throughout. Numerous enemies of Stormwind and the Alliance reside within, and many of the central quests involving the Stockades involves dealing with these enemies. The reason for the uprising in the stockades is because of the numerous defias that were thrown in and overcrowded the stockades.NomenclatureThere are no common shortforms for The Stockades. It should be noted, however, that shortforms are highly variable, and one of the more commom abbreviations is the "stocks", though many players may abbreviate the name as they wish.Instance zoneThe Stockades is among the shortest of all the available instance dungeons available in World of Warcraft, and is suitable for players roughly level twenty-five and above. It is comprised of one central hallway which splits into two separate areas at its end. Throughout the hallway are numerous side rooms which hold numerous mobs. In addition, mobs are populated within the halls, and patrols regularly move throughout. The Stockades has only one entry point which is used as both the entrance and the exit point. The enemies encountered in The Stockades are primarily comprised of imprisoned humans from the Defias Brotherhood, but can include other races as well (for instance, ogres). While most of the enemies encountered are melee combatants, players should be prepared for other kinds of enemies when confronting the bosses. In particular, Fear spells are used by some of the bosses/named enemies and can be particularly deadly due to the small size of this dungeon, and it is usually recommended more so then normal that the area around and leading to a Boss be cleared before engaging him. Also, occasional swarms of level 20 Defias prisoners appear outside the entrance to the instance. Normally they are dispatched by the much higher level 45 guards bordering the stairs to the entrance. However standing right at the portal is not a wise move. QuestsSix quests are involved in The Stockades instance. They are:What Comes Around... (level 25) The Color of Blood (level 26) Crime and Punishment (level 26) Quell The Uprising (level 26) The Fury Runs Deep (level 27) The Stockade Riots (level 29) While it is possible to finish each quest individually without engaging other quests, it is usually the case that parties engage as many quests as possible. However due to a pre-requisite quest for The Fury Runs Deep, it is likely that parties lacking higher level members start with the three quests What Comes Around..., The Color of Blood, and possibly Quell the Uprising, as they can all be accomplished without approaching either of the two major bosses (Dextren Ward and Bazil Thredd). Stockades is thus returned upon at a higher level (typically 27 to 29) in order to finish the two remaining quests. What Comes Around... and The Color of Blood can be accomplished simply by "farming" the central hallway. The following is a list of the six quests, the briefing text of each quest, and an outline of strategy dealing with each quest. What Comes Around...Objective: Bring the head of Targorr the Dread to Guard Berton in Lakeshire.Briefing: Targorr the Dread served under Gath'Ilzogg as supreme Executioner. His methods were ruthless, even by filthy Orc standards. Men who fought bravely to defend the Kingdom were tortured on his whim. Now he is being held in the Stormwind Stockade, sentenced to die. Yet something is amiss. One of the bureaucratic nobles put a hold on his execution. I am sure foul play is in the works. [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for The Stockades ] | Searches on eBay |
