In many campaign settings for the Dungeons & Dragons
role-playing game, Titania is the fey deity of faerie folk and realms, friendship, and magic. Titania is the leader of the Seelie Court, a large confederation of gods, which consists of her consort Oberon, as well as the following gods: Caoimhin, Damh, Eachthighern, Emmantiensien, Fionnghuala, Nathair Sgiathach, Skerrit, Squelaiche, and Verenestra. The Seelie Court stands united in opposition to the Queen of Air and Darkness.

Mythology vs D&D

Oberon & Titania, have switched roles in the D&D universe from their Mythological counter parts. In legend, Oberon ruled the Seelie Court with Titania at his side as his queen. The exact reason for this switch is not clear. It may be an attempt to incorporate modern Feminism into D&D. Alternatively it is an attempt to acknowledge the influence of Shakespear on the legend, who wrote during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Conversely it may have been an unintentional mistake. It even may have been a mere whim. Neither TSR nor Wizards of the Coast, have commented on this change.
