| Treecko (キモリ Kimori in Japanese, Geckarbor in German and Arcko in French) is a fictional character from the Pokémon series of games. It is a basic grass-type, and is one of the three Hoenn starter Pokémon, along with Torchic and Mudkip. The name "Treecko" is simply a combination of the words "tree" and "gecko". Appearance/BiologyTreecko resembles a small, bipedal gecko. Though Treecko are often seen standing upright like a human, in the jungle it sometimes assumes the behavior of a quadrupedal animal by scaling the various treetops in its natural environment.Treecko are often known for assuming the disposition of a wise samaritan and a loner. In any case, they are cool, calm, and collected - it never panics under any situation. If a bigger foe were to glare at this Pokémon, it would glare right back without conceding an inch of ground. Treecko makes its nest in a giant tree in the forest. It ferociously guards against anything nearing its territory. Due to these observed behavioral patterns, folklore describes it as a protector of the forest’s trees. Treecko has small hooks on the bottom of its feet that enable it to scale even vertical walls. The tail of this Pokémon serves a dual-purpose; In its natural environment, it senses humidity with its thick tail to predict the next day's weather, and in battle it attacks by slamming foes with its tail. In the video gamesPicking this Pokémon as a starter is categorized as choosing a "Medium-Easy" difficulty level for the game because the first gym leader uses Pokémon whose type is weak against Treecko's. However, it is important to not forget that Treecko is weak against Flying-type Pokémon, which are highly common and also the 6th gym leader's specialty.Treecko's natually learned list of moves differs from that of its evolutions in a manner that forces players to make decisions on whether to evolve it later rather than sooner. At level 26, it learns Mega Drain, which is the only way to teach the move to the Treecko family line, and at level 46 it learns Giga Drain, which is not necessary since Giga Drain can be taught to any Treecko species member by Technical Machine. Depending on the player's point of view, this may or may not be worth holding off on evolving it into its more statistically adept forms until level 26. In the animéIn the Pokémon anime, one thing that characterizes Ash Ketchum's Treecko in particular is the fact that he always puts a small twig in his mouth. Ash's Treecko is a highly determined fighter who never gives up. If it cannot defeat an opponent, it trains hard to gain the necessary strength. Treecko evolves into Grovyle in the episode "Exploud and Clear!".In the card gameTreecko's standing in the Trading Card Game is exactly identical to those of Torchic and Mudkip, for it has made equal amounts of Basic (albeit Grass-type) appearances in the same sets:
