| Tyrogue (Balkie in Japanese, Rabauz in German, Débugant in French) is a fictional character from the Pokémon franchise. Tyrogue's name is derived from the words tyro, a term for a beginning student, referring to it being a pre-evolution of Fighting-type Pokémon, and rogue. The 'rogue' in Tyrogue's name most likely refers to its rogueish, loner personality. The "Ty" could also be derived from the word tyke, referring to the fact that this Pokémon is the "child" version of Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, and Hitmontop. "Ty" could also be a corruption of "Tri," meaning three, as Tyrogue can evolve into three different Pokémon. CharacteristicsTyrogue is a small, pale-purple skinned humanoid fighter with bandage-like cloths wrapped around its torso and wrists. It looks like it would be an expert at both fist and foot fighting, as Tyrogue in general have not yet "chosen" which fighting they will master (see "In the Video Games" section below).Tyrogue are always bursting with energy. They will attack and fight any target without warning or provocation and will continue to fight even after defeat. They must train everyday to prevent becoming overstressed, and have been known to practice several different fighting styles. In the video gamesTyrogue can not be found in the wild in any Pokémon game. In Gold and Silver it is only obtainable by defeating a karate master training in a mountain. Defeating a trainer in order for them to give you their Pokémon, while uncommon, is not entirely unheard of in the Pokémon games, as Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee were acquired in Red and Blue the same way.The way Tyrogue chooses which of its three evolutions it will evolve into is also unusual. If its attack stat is higher than its defence stat when it reaches level 20, then it will evolve into Hitmonlee. If its defence is higher than its attack, then it will evolve into Hitmonchan. If its attack and defence stats are equal, then it will evolve into Hitmontop. If you give Rare candy to Tyrogue and not let it fight you can get a Hitmontop. In the animéIn episode #235, A Tyrogue Full Of Trouble, a lone Tyrogue is abandoned by its trainer, and gains a cold attitude toward trainers and Pokémon that are bigger than it. It then creates a gang of fighting Pokémon consisting of Mankey and Primeape and goes around fighting and harassing travelers. It is saved from a falling boulder by a man, softening its disposition, and later joins the man.In the trading card gameTyrogue has had three appearances in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, twice as a baby Pokémon and once as a basic Pokémon. The expansions where it made these appearances are Neo Discovery, E-Aquapolis, and EX Unseen Forces.[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Tyrogue ] | Searches on eBay |
