Viridian Forest is an area located between Viridian City and Pewter City in the Pokémon Video Games. It is home to several common Bug type Pokémon such as Caterpie and Weedle and on ocassion Pikachu can be found there.

Appearances

Viridian Forest made its first appearance in Pokémon Red and Blue as a winding maze of trees and grass where several items and Pokémon could be encountered. There were many "Bug Cathers" to battle as you made your way through the forest as well as fending off annoying Bug Pokémon.

When it returned in Pokémon Gold and Silver (which is set three years after the original games) it had been cut down and you were met only with tree stumps and some less "Spooky" music.

Viridian Forest was redrawn and reappeared in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the remakes of Pokémon Red and Green. The Bug Cathers had been given names in this version and the music redone.

In Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, FireRed and LeafGreen you could obtain:

Caterpie (Common)

Metapod (Common)

Weedle (Common)

Kakuna (Common)

Pikachu (Rare, Not obtainable in Pokémon Yellow)

There are no Pokémon obtainable in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal.
