| Vladimir Andreyevich Savon (September 26, 1940 – June 1, 2005) was a Ukrainian chess player. His best tournament result was undoubtedly first in the 1971 Soviet Championship with an undefeated 15/21, ahead of a host of strong players, including David Bronstein, Efim Geller, Lev Polugaevsky, Leonid Stein, Mark Taimanov, and three past and future world champions: Mikhail Tal, Vassily Smyslov, and Anatoly Karpov. Savon was awarded the International Master title in 1967, and the Grandmaster title in 1973. He died in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
