| Wakka is a playable character in the Square Enix video game Final Fantasy X. He is voiced by John DiMaggio in the English version, who also voices Kimahri. He is characterized by a long red-orange quiff and a Besaid Island accent (the real-world equivalent would be a Polynesian accent) that makes him call Tidus "brudda" and finish his sentences with "ya?" In addition to being one of the summoner Yuna's guardians, Wakka is also a professional blitzball player and coach of the perpetually losing Besaid Aurochs. He uses blitzballs as his weapons in battle, making him the only character who can reliably hit flying monsters with physical attacks. His abilities (which are comparable to the generic character class of archer) give the party accuracy boosts and also inflict negative statuses (blindness, silence and poison) on the enemy. Wakka is one of the first people to befriend Tidus upon his arrival in Spira, due both to his blitzball prowess and resemblance to Wakka's deceased brother, Chappu. Chappu is a fairly prominent figure in Wakka's history, and was engaged to Wakka's good friend and fellow Guardian Lulu before he left to join the Crusaders (a corps of soldiers dedicated to defeating Sin). He was killed in battle while using a machina weapon provided by the Al Bhed, and for this reason Wakka's religious distaste of the Al Bhed hardened into a more personal vendetta. Wakka's hatred of the Al Bhed is, of course, eventually nullified, and he takes to their airship with few misgivings. He also fights unquestioningly in defense of the Al Bhed's only city deep in the Sanubia Desert, a place known only as Home. This is due in part to getting to know Rikku and realizing his prejudice. Wakka and Tidus develop a very close brother-like relationship over the course of the game, which at first angers Lulu; however, Lulu eventually sees Tidus in a new light too, and begins to relate to him as a brother as well. Wakka and Lulu, for their part, develop a relationship of their own, and in Final Fantasy X-2 Wakka stresses over the responsibilities of being the father of Lulu's fast-approaching baby. He eventually names his new son Vidina —which is, interestingly enough, the Al Bhed word for future. "Wakka" is Ainu for "water". Other appearancesWakka has appeared as a non-playable character and a younger version of himself in the series Kingdom Hearts along with Tidus. He is described as a good-natured older brother figure to Tidus and also Selphie Tilmitt (who cameos from Final Fantasy VIII). However, he does not appear in the sequel Kingdom Hearts II. His name (along with Tidus') is mentioned by Selphie.Wakka Wakka [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Wakka ] | Searches on eBayRelated searches on eBay |
