Games - Xaos MUD

Xaos is a heavily altered Roleplaying Intensive Multi-User Dungeon that started from the Merc (MUD)
codebase in 1997. The base Merc code was changed by its coder and creator "Ragnar" for the next 9 years, during which time the text-based game has also been online and open to the public.

=Setting and Genre= As of 2006 it features a combination of both roleplaying and hack and slash gameplay, and the unique world of Xaos is very detailed and expansive, with over 100,000 rooms and around 5000 each of objects and npc mobs, as a result of the efforts made by its players and world builders, called "immortals", over the nine year lifetime of the game. Nevertheless, its genre still can be described as a sword and sorcery fantasy setting.

In particular, the game setting features magic (~500 spells) and medieval combat (involving ~250 skills) as well as 26 playable fantasy races and 400 NPC races. Some of the races are unique to Xaos, but more frequently they are drawn from contemporary fantasy sources.
