Xbox Evolved (also known as XE360), is a website dedicated to reporting on the Xbox & Xbox 360.AboutXbox Evolved is a site that is produced by fans of the Xbox series of systems. The site has had several exclusive stories involving games such as the Elder Scrolls series of games, Bioware titles, Stubbs the Zombie, many Xbox Live Arcade titles, and Need for Speed games, Halo series, cheats, codes, reviews, previews, andmore. Xbox Evolved is also one of the few Xbox fansites that actually reports on the E3 event, and normally has several exclusive stories from the event. Most recently Xbox Evolved regained the xboxevolved.com URL back, and the next version of the site is tentatively scheduled in summer 2006. HistoryOriginally an idea of Brandon Breedlove in winter 2001, the original Xbox Evolved (http://www.xboxevolved.com) launched in February 2002. John Olin originally led the editorial staff. The site was then sold to John by then programmer/designer Bill Nelepovitz. Later a deal between Advanced Media Networks (AMN) and Xbox Evolved was discussed to make Xbox Evolved part of their network. The site may have been changed to Xbox Advanced (http://www.xboxadvanced.com). The deal never went anywhere, but Xbox Evolved kept the http://www.xboxadvanced.com URL until the beginning of 2003. The owner of another Xbox site, Xbox Solution, then bought the URL and sold rights to a newly formed Xbox Advanced site separate from Xbox Evolved. Since then the URL is now up for sale to the highest bidder. The original Xbox Evolved went down in April 2003. There is much confusion about why it went down, but the real reason is the server. The server and URL for Xbox Evolved were unwittingly bought in a package from Fusion3k. The server abruptly went down on April 2003, as well as all other Fusion3k client sites. Due to this, there was no time to back up the original Xbox Evolved and all files and design were lost. Work began in late 2003 on a follow up site, “XEv2”. The site was designed by owner/site director John Olin and Bill Nelepovitz returned to program the site. In late 2004 an advertising partnership was created with a third party that forced rights of server and URL of http://www.xbox-evolved.com to the third party. In mid-2005 the third party breeched terms of agreement and John Olin acted quickly—creating an identical copy of http://www.xbox-evolved.com on a new server with the url of http://www.xe360.com. The URL signified the coming of the Xbox 360. In summer 2005 work on the new Xbox Evolved, “XEv3” began. It is tentatively scheduled to launch in Summer 2006. The site will have a strong emphasis on Xbox 360 in design, with strong emphasis on content, community, and ease of navigation. The project is being designed by John Olin, with forums programming being done by Sean Queenman, and website programming done by long time programmer Bill Nelepovitz. The StaffJohn Olin: John, age 20 resides in the Northern Kentucky area. He started working at websites at the early age of 15 starting with simple sites about comic books, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2. In mid-2001 a chance occurrence had him working at GameCube Advanced (http://gc.advancedmn.com) where he reported on GameBoy Advanced and GameCube news. Ironically, the same person who designed and programmed GameCube Advanced later became the programmer of Xbox Evolved.Bill Nelepovitz: Bill, age 23 has been programming and designing websites for over seven years now. He designed the NeoSite CMS, and has a degree in multimedia. Currently Bill is working on several web projects, and a game store site of his own.
