The 64th Academy Awards were presented March 30, 1992 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles. The show was hosted by Billy Crystal.

The Silence of the Lambs won five awards including Best Picture ( Edward Saxon, Kenneth Utt and Ronald M.Bozman ), Best Director ( Jonathan Demme ), Best Actor ( Anthony Hokins ), Best Actress ( Jodie Foster ) and Best Adapted Screenplay ( Ted Tally ), thus completing the BIG FIVE sweep of the biggest awards becoming only the 3rd film to do so after It Happened One Night ( 1934 ) and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest ( 1975 ).

Best Supporting Actress - Mercedes Ruehl in The Fisher King

Best Original Screenplay - Thelma & Louise by Carrie Khouli

Best Foreign Language Film - Mediterraneo ( Italy )
