| 84, Charing Cross Road is the title of a book by Helene Hanff, published in 1970 about the long correspondence (1949-1969) between Hanff, a resident of New York City, and Frank Doel of the Marks & Co. bookshop at 84, Charing Cross Road, London. A stage play, a BBC Radio play and movies have been made based on the book. In 1975 a TV movie starred Frank Finlay and Anne Jackson. A 1987 version starred Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins. While Marks & Co. is out of business, a plaque on the building acknowledges the story.
