Brothers Albert and David Maysles were a documentary filmmaking team whose works include Salesman, Gimme Shelter and Grey Gardens
. Their 1964 film on The Beatles forms the backbone of the DVD The Beatles: The First U.S. Visit
. David Maysles (born January 10, 1932, Boston, Massachusetts) died in 1987; Albert Maysles (born November 26, 1928, Boston, Massachusetts), whom Jean-Luc Godard called "the best American cameraman," has continued to make films, with new collaborators.

He was given a lifetime achievement award at Czech film festival AFO in 2005 at the age of 79. He was the subject of a direct-cinema profile documenting his visit by American filmmaker Christopher Seufert and he is also the subject of his own autobiographical documentary, which has yet to be released by Maysles Associates.
