Alien from the Darkness (also titled Inju alien), a Hentai film, was released in 1996 and was directed by Norio Takanamiis. The plot of this film seems to have been strongly influenced by the movie Alien, with Hikari, the computer expert, reprising Sigourney Weaver's role. However, the elements of lesbianism and tentacle rape are fairly new to this genre.

Plot summary

Alien from the Darkness is the story of the all-female crew of the spaceship Muze. While on a government mission far from civilization, they find a seemingly lifeless ship known as the Zogne drifting in space. They investigate and stumble across numerous dead bodies as well as a most dangerous (and, of course, tentacled) alien in the form of Flair, an innocuous-looking girl, who is diagnosed with amnesia after being found in a sleep chamber on the Zogne. Not realizing her true nature, the crew treat her with sympathy as a medical patient. Meanwhile, computer expert Hikari begins attempting to decrypt the computer records of the Zogne to find out what happened to the crew.

After a search turns up the illegal drug Metrogria on the Zogne, the captain of the Muze commands that the Zogne be destroyed after releasing the connection to the Muze. Meanwhile, Flair has begun to wreak havoc, approaching the crew members one by one and tentacle-raping them, implanting eggs in them. This causes the victims to become insane and die. Hikari finally learns the secret after decoding the computer records, but not before the Captain and several other crew members have already succumbed to Flair.

Hikari and her sister attempt to destroy Flair with weaponry, but the alien seems invincible. In the attempt, Hikari's sister is grabbed by the alien. Seeking revenge, Hikari puts a Metrogria capsule in a pistol and shoots the alien, mortally wounding it. She then opens the airlock door, and the alien is sucked out into space along with several dead bodies. Many viewers of this film have asked, "Why didn't they just do that to begin with?" The answer is never really explained, but perhaps Hikari did not want to risk causing a live crew member to get sucked out into space along with the alien.
