Synopsis

A feature film adaptation of Robert Graysmith's book, Auto Focus
is the story of actor Bob Crane, an affable radio show host who later found success on Hogan's Heroes, which he is best known for. But the movie delves deeper into Crane's personal life, particularly on his relationship with John Henry Carpenter, a video technician. With Carpenter, Crane had developed a hobby for sexual activity and documented his exploits along with Carpenter on video and photography equipment. Auto Focus
is about Crane's newfound success on Hogan's Heroes right to his murder which to this day, remains unsolved.

Trivia

Many critics had praised the film and called it one of the most overlooked releases of 2002. Many had cited that the movie's dark treatment of morale, reflected the movie's overall tone.
Bob Crane
's second son had disapproved of the film.
Writer Robert Graysmith also wrote another true crime book about the Zodiac serial killer in San Francisco, California.
