The Autobots (also known as Cybertrons in Japan) are the heroes in the Transformers toyline and related spin-off comics and cartoons. Their main leader is Optimus Prime, but other "Prime's" have also commanded the Autobots like Rodimus Prime and Sentinel Prime. They are constantly at war with the Decepticons. In the U.S. cartoon line, they were the descendants of a line of robots created as consumer goods by the Quintessons. They, along with the Decepticons, were created by the god Primus to defend the universe from the evil Unicron. The Prime title is in honor of Primus.

The Autobot symbol is referred to as an "Autobrand" in issue 14 of the Marvel comics series.

Note: The Maximals are also known as Cybertrons in Japan, but in the US they are two different groups.
