| Baragon (バラゴン) is a fictional dinosaur-like daikaiju that made his first appearance in the 1965 tokusatsu Frankenstein Conquers the World as an opponent for Toho's interpretation of the Frankenstein monster. Baragon, like Varan, was named for "varanis" (Latin for dragon). In Frankenstein, Baragon sported the ability to burrow underground extremely well, and could fire a Godzilla-like heat ray from his mouth. After devouring numerous people and livestock, Baragon eventually clashed with the Frankenstein monster, but lost the battle when the human-like creature broke Baragon's neck. A few years later, Baragon made a cameo in Destroy All Monsters. Though mentioned several times throughout the film (and blamed for Gorosaurus's attack on Paris), he wasn't fully seen until the very end of the film, as one of the several monsters living on Monsterland. Thirty-three years later Baragon was recalled from obscurity Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, as one of a trio of ancient Yamato Guardians (along with Mothra and Ghidorah). Stripped of his heat ray in this film, he still retained his burrowing ability, and was the first of the Guardians to encounter Godzilla. Though Baragon gave it his all, he was only half Godzilla's size and plainly helpless before the creature's might. Charging his atomic ray, Godzilla destroyed Baragon in a huge explosion. Later, when Mothra and Ghidorah combined to make King Ghidorah, Baragon's strength went into the final monster. Filmography
