Bells Are Ringing is a 1960 romantic comedy-musical film, directed by Vincente Minnelli. It starred popular film actress of the fifties Judy Holliday alongside Dean Martin. The storyline follows Holliday's character "Ella Peterson", a telephone operator in contemporary America, who falls in love with one of her clients.

Bells Are Ringing was the final musical produced by MGM's "Freed Unit", headed by producer Arthur Freed, which had been responsible for many of the studio's greatest musical successes, such as Singin' in the Rain, An American in Paris and Gigi
