Bite Me, Fanboy is a 2005 movie by filmmaker Mat Nastos. Originally shot in 2001 on a microbudget, the film has seen success through screenings at comic book conventions.

Plot synopsis

OIL and WATER. CATS and DOGS. WARREN BEATTY and DUSTIN HOFFMAN. CHICKS and COMICS.

Some things just DON'T go together. When super-geek, NICK NORTON, gets DUMPED by his girlfriend, he just CAN'T understand WHY. It's NOT like it's the first time RACHEL has caught him wearing PANTIES and PARADING around like Green Lantern. Broken-hearted, NICK heads to his favorite comic store in search of the SYMPATHY of his friends -- what he GETS is something completely DIFFERENT. Come along with NICK on his voyage of self-discovery as he searches for the ANSWER to one of life's greatest QUESTIONS -- which is SWEETER, a brand new, poly-bagged issue of the JLA or the LOVE of a good woman. The answer MAY NOT be as simple as you think.

Trivia

  • All of the comic fan characters have double consonant names: Nick Norton, Jared James, Ray Reed, Tony Taira, Chris Cole.
  • The theme song for Bite Me, Fanboy was written and performed by fan-favorite band OOOKLA THE MOK specifically for the movie.
  • Green Lantern is not only an obsession for the title character, Nick Norton, but also for the writer/director of the film, Mat Nastos. The power battery sequence is supposedly taken from the director's personal experience.
  • The film features a number of references to Elfquest, including one full scene devoted to its fanbase. Mat Nastos actually drew for the comic back in the mid 1990s.
  • Little known fact- There is an entire scene devoted to the "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac" comic series lain into the movie! Watch for it.
