OriginsThe character Blade was created in 1973 for Marvel Comics by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan and was a supporting character in the 1970s comic Tomb of Dracula. In the comic, Blade's mother was bitten by a vampire while she was in labor with Blade. Thus, Blade was born as a dhampir, a human with vampire genes.SynopsisBlade grows up to become a vampire hunter, swearing vengeance on the creatures that killed his mother. He teams up with a man called Whistler, a retired vampire hunter and weapons expert.Meanwhile, in the urban underworld, a feud is started between 'true-blood' vampires and those who had been human, but were 'turned.' Blade becomes aware of this and investigates further, uncovering a plot to raise the blood god La Magra, something he must stop at all costs. TraitsIn the film, Deacon Frost said that Blade "possesses all of the strengths of a vampire, but none of their weaknesses." This is not entirely true, since he lusts for blood (though most vampires may not consider that a "weakness"), and he ages like a normal human as opposed to true vampires which can live indefintely. Despite this he does have numerous abilities. Among these powers are enhanced strength, dexterity, and senses. He speaks Czech, Russian and to a degree the Vampire language, and has a great deal of knowledge about hunting vampires.SoundtrackThe song in the club at the start of the movie is called "Confusion (Pump Panel Reconstruction)", a remix of "Confusion", a New Order song from 1983. The song Deacon is listening to during the translation of the Book of Erebus is called "Call And Response" by Source Direct.Trivia
