Bluffmaster is a Bollywood movie released on 16th December 2005, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Nana Patekar.

The film is directed by Rohan Sippy, the son of Ramesh Sippy. This is his second directorial venture after his first film Kuch Naa Kaho
. The role played by Priyanka Chopra was originally given to Aishwarya Rai, but she was dropped from the film.

Summary

Roy (played by Abhishek Bachchan) is a professional bluffmaster, who has raised the level of his work to that of an art. Still, his love for "Simmi" (played by Priyanka Chopra) is true, even though she is the absolute antithesis of his character. He is unable to bring himself up to tell her the reality of his job and life. But when his past is revealed to her, she cannot forgive him for the deceit their relationship is built on and he loses her. That's when "Aditya Srivastav" alias "Dittu" (played by Ritesh Deshmukh) enters the picture. He is the counterpoint to everything that Roy is. They have only one thing in common - Aditya is a conman too, though an incompetent one. Despite himself Roy agrees to teach Aditya the rules of the conning game. In that process, Aditya's boyish charms melt Roy's heart and bring out a spark of goodness in him.

That's when his world is spun upside down - he finds out that he is dying. As a last good deed, he agrees to help Aditya to avenge his father's loss. But he gets caught up in things bigger than he could imagine. Suddenly Roy, who prides himself on being able to cheat anyone and anything, is pushed into a corner from where there is no exit. Ultimately, when all fails, and he has exhausted all possibilities, he gives up his life to save that of all those he holds dear. But, in an anti-climax, he is saved by a trampoline (similar to that in films). Later, he finds out that he is the one who was bluffed, and all the story was to bring out a spark of goodness in him, and as an added bonus, a film was made on his redemption, with Aditya as the director.

Trivia

When Roy and Dittu attempt a con Chandru in the cinema hall Maratha Mandir, the movie playing is the director Rohan Sippy's father, director Ramesh Sippy's hit film Shaan.
